9+ Facts about the S&P 500 since the December 28, 2022 Lows.

(the top 7 stocks in the index now make up 103% of the positive returns this year.)
Last week I wrote how the S&P 500 was being held up by 10 stocks now there are only 7 holding up the index.
There are 240 stocks in the green starting from December 28th, 2022 (Last week was 267)
Their total market cap has gained $4.8 trillion since the index lows. (last week was 4.7t)
The top 7 of these stocks have gained roughly 3.4 trillion in value. (last week 10 gained 3.1t)
Year to date, 260 stocks have declined since the December lows.
A total decline over $1.5 trillion
Doing the math is scary… A. 4.8t – 3.4t =1.4t B. 1.4t -1.5t = negative $100 billion change in market cap
A quick analysis shows two interesting things: A. The bottom half from last week is now rising. B. The top half (excluding the top 7) is now declining from last week’s market cap highs.
If you bought the index without the top 7 stocks you’d now be approaching the 52 week lows from back in October 2022
